China and its Development Model: A Broad Outline from a Mexican Perspective

Abstract

China’s economic success from 1978 to 2008 is truly surprising, for example the growth rate of its GDP (an average of 10% a year for thirty years, third place in the world in 2008, 14 times its GDP from 1978 to 2007). However, we could also add that China’s economic history is very far from being over, and in the future it will continue surprising us with its innovations, which it will have to keep in mind if it wants to have a close idea of the most successful development strategy of recent decades.
