¿Qué papel juega la consideration en la teoría del contrato de Thomas Hobbes?

Resumen
La doctrina de la consideration como elemento de todo contrato en Thomas Hobbes no ha recibido suficiente atención por parte de los estudiosos, y los pocos que la han comentado han errado respecto de su función. En este artículo exponemos el papel que dicha noción juega en la teoría del contrato; en qué medida viene exigida o no por la antropología hobbesiana, y en qué medida es simplemente una importación del common law; cuáles tipos de consideration puede Hobbes aceptar, y nos referimos a la posibilidad de que al final de su vida Hobbes la haya reemplazado por la noción civilista de causa. Asimismo, analizamos cuál es la consideration en el contrato social.
